Code of Conduct
Neon Jungle Festival is committed to creating an inclusive and safe space where everyone can freely express themselves in all forms, regardless of age, ability, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or expression. We strive to uphold the values of respect, dignity, and equality for all individuals in our community. Neon Jungle Festival is a space free of harassment in accordance with the Alberta Human Rights Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
As a festival community, we do not tolerate any form of harassment, discrimination, or violence. This includes but is not limited to:
- Racism, sexism, misogyny, ableism, classism, cultural appropriation, homophobia, transphobia, and all other forms of discrimination and oppression, whether spoken, written, printed, or worn;
- Sexual harassment and assault, inappropriate comments, and any other behaviours that create a hostile or unsafe environment;
- Failure to obtain explicit and enthusiastic consent before photographing, recording, or touching others;
- Disruptive, destructive, or disrespectful behaviour or language that makes others feel unwelcome or unsafe, or that damages property; and/or,
- Disregard for safety measures and community harm reduction.
It is our collective responsibility to address and report any harmful behaviour that we witness or experience during the festival, whether in person or online. All reported violations will be taken seriously, and the appropriate remedial or restorative action will be determined on a case-by-case basis with input from those who reported the issue.
Please note that this Code of Conduct is a living document that will be updated regularly and reviewed before every festival.
MANAGING INCIDENTS
As a community, it is our collective responsibility to safely address and/or report harmful behaviour during in-person events and in digital spaces. At Neon Jungle Music Festival, we take incidents very seriously, and depending on their severity, remedial actions may include:
- Education on why the actions are harmful
- Verbal warnings
- Removal from in-person events or the digital space
- Involvement of security, emergency services, and/or law enforcement
If you witness or experience any harmful behavior, please report it immediately. We will address all reported incidents and take the appropriate remedial or restorative action. The appropriate action will be determined on a case-by-case basis and with the involvement of those who reported the issue.
REPORTING
Neon Jungle Music festival is committed to:
- Addressing reports while upholding anonymity and confidentiality*
- Securely managing, storing, and restricting internal access of reports
- Connecting those reporting to the appropriate community resources should they require additional support that surpasses Neon Jungle Music festival’s support structures, review capacity, and/or legal responsibilities.
- *Exception: Minor Protection Child, Family, Community Service Act, or if the perpetrator is at risk of committing severe injury or mortality.

Online reports will be reviewed by our Operations and Safety team and responded to within 5 business days.

In-person event reports can be directed to:
- Coordinators and Managers or Harm Reduction, Medical, Security, and Volunteer Services.
- Attendees can identify in-person event support by distinguishing apparel and crew credentials. Crew, contractors, and talent will receive communication channels to appropriate department leads.
